Reviews from Music & Wine Events

I was fortunate to attend an intimate performance of The Chambermaids in November 2017. The ladies played a diverse range of repertoire, some familiar, others not. Each piece, however, was carefully chosen to match the spectacular array of wines from Young and Rashleigh. I really felt transported, from the 1700s with wonderfully chosen music of Mozart and Haydn, right through to the 20th century. The introduction to both the music and the wine between each piece gave me context and perspective while giving insight into both – something that I had not given much consideration to previously.
Being a regular concert-goer I look for concerts that surprise and delight and give me something I am not accustomed to. Music and Wine did just that. I look forward to
attending again!’

I was really impressed by the music, the wine and the relaxed atmosphere. It was like a two hour escape from my busy life!

The concert was a beautiful mix of pieces with each instrument having a chance to shine. A wonderful celebration of great music and wine!’- Tracey Leslie, Music and Wine Event

I was lucky to attend the Chambermaids’ Music and Wine concert on 19th November. The carefully selected repertoire would delight the connoisseur and classical music amateur alike, from Mozart to Ibert there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The range of wines perfectly complemented the music by matching the characters and style of the two for a complete sensory experience. If you’re looking for a chamber music concert with a difference, you can’t go past the Chambermaids!!’- Andrea Farrugia, Music and Wine Event

It isn’t often that classical music is available to an audience whilst enjoying a fabulous glass of wine (wines in fact), however this event went far beyond just that. In a beautiful setting with a carefully chosen program of eclectic music from the 18th century to the early 20th. I have rarely enjoyed an afternoon as much as I did on this day.

Not surprisingly, the marriage of music and wine was always going to work. I was however surprised at just how much more I drew from the experience. Fantastic conversation with like minded audience members, descriptions of both the wine and music as well as why they were coupled, not to mention the hors d’oeuvres. I walked away feeling royally treated as well I was.
I will be attending another.

Ps. Don’t forget to buy The Chambermaids fabulous CD! - Matt Ockendon, Music and Wine Event

We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed afternoon of fine music and wine tasting with The Chambermaids. The well chosen program showcased each of the musicians and paired perfectly with the wines! There was a vitality and freshness in the music – and some fun too! - Ros and Tony Webb, Music and Wine Event

Reviews from School Events

The Chambermaids appeal to audience members of all ages from preschoolers to grandparents. Their highly interactive concert allows the listener to enjoy arrangements of the classics and popular themes as well as original compositions by Australian composers for this not so often heard combination of wind instruments.

No need for program notes – all the very accomplished and experienced musicians take turns to confidently explain the pieces to the audience and make the music come alive. A really fun, enjoyable concert with a few musical surprises as well! - Danielle Grant, 107 Projects Concert, Redfern

The Chambermaids Wind Quintet presented a workshop for our Extension Music Students on Ensemble Techniques.

The workshop was thoroughly enjoyable as the quintet performed and gave examples of various practice techniques that they use when preparing a new piece for a concert. This was well supported by handouts and practical tips for our musicians. The success of this engaging and well pitched workshop was evidenced by a stronger emphasis on communication, a more analytical approach and greater engagement from our students in their ensemble work.- Mr Ralph Wilcock, Head of Music, St Andrew's Cathedral School

Our students were fully engaged from the moment just one of the quintet arrived! Thank you for providing our students with such a dynamic, educational and creative performance.

As a school without a band program it was fabulous to see our students leaving your concert knowing more about these instruments and fully participating throughout the entire concert from Kindergarten through to the older grades. Their seamless and well-orchestrated performance impressed all our staff and students. We can’t wait to have you back again.- Mrs Judy McEwen, Principal Hambledon Public School
